Harrison Bergeron Summary
The short story, Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. takes place in 208. For instance, they make George wear big metal suit and a, "She was referring to the forty-seven pounds of birdshot in a canvas bag, which was padlocked around George's neck." (Pg. ) in order to achieve this goal. First, Hazel and George were just watching ballerinas dancing gracefully and George kept on hearing sounds in his ear piece. Then, the TV is interrupted by a message that a ballerina needed to say it was, "Harrison Bergeron, age fourteen," she said in a grackle squawk, "has just escaped from jail, where he was held on suspicion of plotting to overthrow the government. He is a genius and an athlete, is under-handicapped, and should be regarded as extremely dangerous." After they see Harrison on the screen he starts to say, "I am the Emperor!" cried Harrison. "Do you hear? I am the Emperor! Everybody must do what I say at once!" He stamped his foot and the studio shook. "Even as I stand here" he bellowed, "crippled, hobbled, sickened - I am a greater ruler than any man who ever lived! Now watch me become what I can become!" (pg. ) Then he started ripping all of his gear off including the pieces of iron around his neck. "Something real sad on television. As the story ends, Hazel is now shocked at what they just saw and goes to tell George, who went in the kitchen to get a can of beer and notices she has been crying and says,George came back in with the beer, paused while a handicap signal shook him up. What I love about Saint John Eudes
My favorite school is Saint John Eudes. It is my favorite because the students are nice and friendly, the staff and teachers are so supportive and for many other reasons. The students at SJE are very nice and welcoming; so, if you are new to the school, many people will welcome you. The staff here is very supportive and they help you try to reach your goal in education. Some of the other things I enjoy at SJE is the ability to play sports including football, volleyball, basketball, softball, track, and swimming. I also love when we all get together and go to school events such as the Halloween Hop, Jog-A-Thon, the Christmas Pageant and the Carnival. Overall, I think Saint John Eudes is a wonderful school.
