The short story "The Summer of the Beautiful White Horse" by William Saroyan is about a boy named Aram and his cousin Mourad steal this beautiful white horse but then the owners find out he stole the horse. They end up find the horse a place to stay but the owners find out the horse is stolen and take it back. In the story dialogue effects the story because it helps the reader understand the text more in depth. Saroyan doesn't really use any official dialogue but he does write in 1st person point of view why he uses the words: I, me, my, we etc. "I jumped out of bed and looked out the window. I couldn't believe what I saw." (pg. 1) The setting also plays another big role in the story line. When the author puts "Good old days" (pg. 1) and "4am summer day break" (pg.1) he might be trying to express the feeling of reminiscent and nostalgia. When Saroyan talks about how Mourad and Aram are happy about riding horses the mood could be sad or poor because they are poor they don't get experience what nice things feel like. Characters effect the story because without any of the characters like Mourad there would be no conflict. When Mourad stole the horse it could have been for bad but good or maybe just to be more daring. For example on page 4 it talks about how Mourad loves to be alive, "I knew my cousin Mourad enjoyed being alive. more than anybody else who had ever fallen into the world by mistake, but this was more than even I could believe." (pg. 4) Vocabulary played an important role in the story because without it the story would just be less interesting. Ultimately Saryoan could have just had Mourad be daring on purpose because if his family was honest for some controversy.
