Record setting, Pope John Paul ll, five million people come to his mass in the Philippines in February 1981. He was an extraordinary pope who spoke 12 languages and did multiple miracles. He was ordained 1946, became a saint in 2013 and his papacy lasted 27 years. One of his missions was to end abortion. His mission to end abortion was important because abortion is a very important and serious topic. People have to learn the importance of this action because it is taking the life of an innocent child. He was the first non-Italian pope in the last 400 years. One of his most famous quotes is "Don't be afraid". Pope John Paul ll grew up with only a little portion of his family because his mom died when he was nine, his brother died when he was twelve, and his dad died when he was sixteen. He has so much writing that all of his writings could fit in 20 bibles all together. When he was almost killed on one of his trip, after he got out of the hospital he went to jail and met with the person who tried to kill him and forgave him. Besides John Paul ll we also have another wonderful pope named Pope Francis.
Pope Francis, most beloved pope makes American history by being the first pope to talk to U.S. Congress. He was baptized on Chirstmas day in 1936 and was ordained in 1069. One of his main mission was to help all types of people but mostly children. For example Pope Francis sold his red ruby Guchi shoes to give the money to charity. He is originally from Argentina. While he was in college he studied chemistry very much so. On his free time he likes reading the psalms. He speaks four languages which includes; English, Spanish, Italian, and Latin. His family was made up of him, his mom, dad, two brothers and twos and leggings. The last time he ever watched T.V. was in 190. In March, it was announced that Pope Francis had been nominated for the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize. He did not receive this honor, but he continued to devote his time to reaching out to Catholics around the world. In general both popes are equally great in diffrent specialties.
While there are many differences there also many similarities between the two. They both are popes and both were in favor of ending abortion. They also had similar interests such as soccer, children, and dedicating life and love to Jesus. Both popes also believed in the golden rule and the beatitudes. They both really loved to help the poor and the less fortunate. They were one of the only non-Italians popes. Furthermore both Popes are excellent popes and both are changing today's society one prayer at a time.
